New search and filter system

We are proud of the new search and filter systemrece ntly launched on our website! This new addition allows users to refine their search results based on specific attributes, filters and categories, resulting in finding relevant information and products easier and more efficient than ever before.

In addition, search suggestions are already displayed as you type in a search term.

One of the biggest advantages of faceted search is the ability to apply multiple filters simultaneously. This saves time and ensures that users find exactly what they are looking for without the frustration of scrolling through pages of unwanted results.

In addition, faceted search allows users to quickly understand the options and features available within a given category.

We have worked hard to develop and integrate this feature into our website with the goal of improving the user experience and meeting our customers' expectations. As such, we are pleased with the positive feedback we have received so far. Try the faceted search for yourself and experience the ease of finding your products.

Christmas lighting has barely an influence on your energy consumption

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. However, due to the turmoil on energy markets more and more people worry about their electricity consumption. Luckily, this is no reason to keep your Christmas lighting in the attic as the newest generation with LED technology will barely have an influence on your energy bills.

LED lighting is a must

Do you still use your classic Christmas lighting with halogen bulbs? Then, it's high time you replaced it with some high-quality LED Christmas lighting. The consumption difference is larger than you may think.

As an example, the Vellight garland with 120 LEDs (Stella model) has a power consumption of 3.6 W. When you leave it switched on for 8 hours a day for 30 days, you will have consumed 0.86 kWh. At an average energy cost of € 0.73 per kWh, this makes a total cost of € 0.63.

For comparison, a halogen garland with a power consumption of 41 W totals a consumption of 9.84 kWh for 30 days, costing you a whopping € 7.18.

Vellight LED garland with 120 LEDs - 8 hours a day for 30 days

Power = 3.6 W
Consumption = 0.86 kWh
Total = € 0.63*

Halogen garland 100 lamps - 8 hours a day for 30 days

Power = 45 W
Consumption = 9.84 kWh
Total = € 7.18*

*Average energy price for electricity in September 2022 € 0.73

Conclusion? Switch to LED lighting! The more so if you are using multiple Christmas garlands in and around your home, it is interesting to opt for energy-efficient LED lighting.

Timer and solar energy

You want to save even more on your energy consumption? Use a timer to automatically switch your outdoor Christmas lighting on and off. This way, you will never accidentally forget to switch off the lighting at night.

The ever-increasing energy cost is no longer an excuse to skip on your Christmas decoration. Just make sure to use LED lighting and enjoy a cosy and twinkling Christmas period.

COVID-19: VELLEMAN designs and builds an operating system for intelligent breathing machine for Gear Up Medical vzw

VELLEMAN assists the non-profit organization Gear Up Medical in the development of an intelligent breathing machine. The company, along with a number of others, followed up on the Herregodts brothers' call to help them develop the device further.

After an initial contact, VELLEMAN immediately made the Product Development team available. This team was responsible for the development of a full-fledged operating system with intelligent electronics and software. Meanwhile, teams of Engie Fabricom and Engie Axima refined the original design and manufactured the mechanical parts of the ventilator in its laboratories in Zwijndrecht. Tractebel took care of the coordination and experts from Engie Laborelec tested the mechanical design.

Fast & Smart prototyping

"When we were asked to see if we could help with Engie, we immediately accepted to put our shoulders to the wheel", says VELLEMAN ceo Peter Delbecque. "VELLEMAN has a long tradition in the development of electronics. However, developing a ventilator's operating system in such a short time was quite different. The team has split the tasks as much as possible in order to work in parallel. They applied fast & smart prototyping principles to allow to develop and test very quickly. However, the fact that they could achieve such a result and guarantee a finished device in just 3 weeks, is entirely due to the commitment of everyone and the smooth cooperation between the parties involved. Our suppliers, ACB and Assemblics, were also able to deliver the necessary items on very short notice."

Thanks to the combined expertise of, among others, VELLEMAN, Engie Fabricom, Engie Axima, Tractebel and Laborelec, the non-profit organization of the brothers Herregodts received the prototypes on Friday 17 April. The devices are now being used for various validation tests and certification, including a digital artificial lung in a hospital setting.

VELLEMAN wishes to thank Engie and partners for the good cooperation in these exceptional times. It wishes Gear Up Medical vzw every success in the certification and production of the ventilator and hopes the device will be available soon to assist hospitals worldwide in the care of patients affected by the Covid-19 virus.
To finance this process, Gear Up Medical is still looking for financial support to purchase parts, carry out certification and start the production.

Get creative with the BrightDot wearable collection!

BrightDots are small and wearable modules with one or more LEDs that need to be controlled by an Arduino compatible development board.

The entire collection includes a series of diverse modules with addressable RGB LEDs that can be controlled individually. We also developed a unique Arduino compatible that you can use to create something bright & wearable that's also smart.

The PCB of each BrightDot module is super thin and includes gold plated contacts with 6 sewing holes of 1.22mm. Also, all models have backup lines to ensure that one broken LED does not affect the others.

Every LED is controlled by 3 wires (power, ground & data) and can be connected via these wires to the next LED, creating a big string of LEDs. You can solder these LEDs in electric circuits, or sew them into clothing, onto backpacks, onto shoes, …
